ILLUSTRATION WORK
Some noteworthy illustration work done during my course
ANIMATIC PROJECT
In my first year I was tasked with designing a character that would be used for a 1-minute long animatic. This character was inspired by 1940s fashion and culture in Britain.

9TREES PROJECT
In my first year I was tasked with creating an abstract social media poster to advertise the 9Trees environmental conservation organisation. I took inspiration from oak trees and decided to mesh it with the appearance of power plant chimney stacks to convey the idea of oak leaves having a large surface area which lets them release more oxygen into the atmosphere.

OBSERVATIONAL PROJECTS
During my first year I practiced observational drawing to complete two projects, the first being to create a diorama of an environment being changed by a natural disaster. I chose to have an area of my home town, Hitchin, be affected by a volcanic eruption, and I had to think realistically about how the heat, lava and volcanic ash would destroy it. The second project was to combine observational drawing and lino/mono printing to tell a story related to myself. For this one, I chose to convey how I feel in my home when trying to concentrate on things without my ADHD medication vs. with them.

CHARACTER DESIGN/GRAPHIC NOVEL PROJECT
During my second year I was tasked with designing a character which was to be used in a 4-page graphic novel that sheds light on a social issue. The character I ended up designing was a rebellious-looking British punk character, and my graphic novel, which focused on the issue of sexual harassment, was set in a 1980s London, when punk culture was extremely prevalent.

FINAL MAJOR PROJECT
The third and final year was focused on my final major project, which I decided would be a graphic novel with an animated trailer and production book. I realised I suffered a lot with self-doubt during my course, not feeling lime I was capable but reminded that if I did something before, I could do it again. That is what inspired me to tell a story about a young superhero boxer confronting a rival whose powers bring out her deepest fears and anxieties, reminding her of her past mistakes and making her feel she is not worthy of her fame. I took everything I learned from the previous year's graphic novel project to make something I feel I am proud of. Shown here are the front cover of the graphic novel as well as a few finished pages and the finalised trailer.
